As
with humans, horses develop medical disorders - arthritis,
immune deficiencies, tumors, etc. Deer velvet antler is a
natural, safe, legal, steroid alternative for the valuable
thoroughbred horse or farm hack, or any sports performance
animal e.g. dogs.
The first
use of deer velvet antler to benefit health was recorded in
168 BC in China. Modern research has confirmed many of the
traditional "healing" benefits of deer velvet antler. Deer
velvet antler is a totally natural substance containing many
essential minerals, trace elements and nutrients.
Velvita Benefits
Studies
show that deer velvet antler appears to help by:
- supporting
of healthy joint and tissue function
- repairing
damaged tissue
- decreasing
the content of degenerative enzymes in the liver and brain
- supporting
healthy body functions
- oxygenating
the blood
- improving
blood circulation
- stimulating
testosterone to give constant adrenalin when on the track
- boosting
stamina, strength and endurance
- boosting
the immune system which can be depleted by over exertion
- containing
collagen and chondroitin to lubricate joints and to help
repair minor muscle tears and shin splints
Deer
velvet antler has more recently been used by vets and horse
trainers to improve animal performance.
Deer velvet
antler appears to have no side effects or adverse reactions
on animals.

Arthritis Treatment
In the
past, and unfortunately at the present time, steroids and
other related potentially harmful medications are being used
to treat arthritis with very often devastating results. These
drugs mask and often exacerbate the disease over a period
of time. Deer velvet antler slowly decreases the pain of arthritis
by rebuilding cartilage and significantly reducing joint swelling
thus increasing mobility. It is a natural source of glucosamine
and chondroitin sulfate, potent anti-inflammatory agents with
the added effects of collagen, which lubricates and helps
repair joints.
Deer
velvet antler is also a safe and natural treatment for boosting
the immune system by increasing the production of white blood
cells. Furthermore, deer velvet antler products have been
shown to improve cell growth and to have anti-tumor components.
Effects on the Liver and
Kidney
Deer velvet
antler may aid in the treatment of these diseases in a manner
comparable to steroid-based pharmaceuticals. Deer velvet antler,
due to its androgenic activity (which increases the production
of testosterone), was used to determine its effects on the
liver and kidney. Liver tissue damaged with chloroform was
able to recover following deer velvet antler treatment. In
follow-up studies the protein formation in both the kidney
and liver was enhanced as a result of deer velvet antler on
RNS polymerase (enzyme) activity.
Horse Studies
Studies
have been completed at Stampede Park (Calgary, Alberta) to
test the effects of velvet antler on the performance of race
horses. Preliminary reports say that the horses have less
stiffness, and recover much more quickly after racing.

Composition Of Velvita
Active
ingredients found in deer velvet antler include a variety
of minerals, trace elements, protein, fatty acids, glycosaminoglycans,
growth hormones, and growth factors. These ingredients are
outlined below:
Minerals/Trace
Elements
- Calcium
(Ca): provides structure for bones and teeth, and is
essential for nerve impulse conduction, muscle contraction
and blood clotting.
- Copper (Cu): necessary
for red blood cell development, bones, and nerves.
- Iron (Fe): essential for blood cells transporting oxygen throughout
the body.
- Manganese (Mn): needed for development of bones and connective tissue, and
for normal functioning of the nervous system.
- Magnesium
(Mg): needed in metabolic reactions and storing and
releasing energy in cells.
- Phosphorus(P): provides structure for bones and teeth, and is a component
of nearly all metabolic reactions.
- Potassium
(K): needed for nerve and muscle function.
- Selenium (Se): a
powerful antioxidant.
- Sulfur
(S): is a component of various amino acids and insulin.
- Zinc (Zn): part of the enzymes involved in digestion and respiration,
and is necessary for normal wound healing and skin health
Proteins/Collagen/Lipids
Proteins
(including all essential amino acids): are the structural
materials in cells, and aid in growth and repair of tissues.
Collagen: a major structural component of bones, tendons,
ligaments, and cartilage. Lipids (all essential fatty acids
including omega 3 and 6): build cell parts and boost energy
for cellular activities
Growth
Hormones and Growth Factors
Insulin-like
Growth Factor (IGF-l) and Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Growth
hormones and factors have an effect on growth and maintenance
of bones and promoting protein and fat metabolism, stimulating
cartilage growth, and thickening' and lengthening bones in
children. They also have growth promoting actions on the skin.
Glycosaminoglycans
(GAGs )
